Instructions:

  1. Prepare pattern (page 5). Fuse the fleece pieces to the wrong sides of the brown fabric. Trace the gingerbread boy on the wrong side of one of the pieces (you will be marking on the fleece, so use a marker.) Cut out the body 1/2 inch from the marked lines.

  2. Trace the heart onto fusible webbing. Fuse to the red fabric and cut out the heart. Fuse the heart to the body and machine appliqué it in place using rayon thread and a satin stitch.

  3. Baste the piping around the edges of the cut out body section, having the raw edges of the piping even with the raw edges of the body, clipping at corners and curves.

  4. Stitch the rick rack around the body, having the rick rack edges 1/4 inch from the piping. For best results, start and end at the crotch.

  5. Place the body against the other fleeced fabric section, right sides together. Stitch around the body along the piping basting line, leaving a 2-inch opening along one leg for turning. Clip the curves and corners and turn to the right side. Stuff firmly with fiberfill. Hand-stitch the opening closed.

  6. Sew buttons in place for eyes. (If this is a gift for a small child, embroider eyes to prevent a choking hazard.) Tie green rick rack around neck with a bow at one side.
