Eggshell Candles

Eggshell CandlesSupplies Needed:

• raw eggs
• wax crystals (can be purchased anyplace where candle making supplies are sold)
• birthday candles
• eggcups
• egg dying materials (see ‘ideas for dyeing eggs’)

PREPARING THE EGGSHELLS

Poke a hole in the bottom of a raw egg and remove the yolk and egg white. The hole can be as large as your middle finger is round.

Using cuticle scissors, trim the opening out about 1/4 inch more. Rinse and dry the egg shells thoroughly. Dye the empty eggshells.

MAKING THE CANDLES

Fill the finished shell with wax crystals about 1/4 inch below the edge of the shell and insert a birthday candle for the wick. Place in an eggcup.

When the candle is lit it will burn down and melt the crystals.
